I found some new forums for my art commissions
I was looking for new places to promote my art commissions services in, and I was surprised to find myself typing BBCode again
Welcome to another weekly recap!
A friend of mine that is studying game design in Austria sent me some scans from one of his textbooks. Inside them there were some suggestions from a game designer, who was recommending forums and websites where to find artists and contractors to help them with their games.
Most of the recommendations where outdated, linking to long-gone websites and forums. But some of them were, to my surprise, very much still active. I also found a couple of new ones I didn’t know while googling stuff around.
I am looking to advertise my art commissions service more, so I signed up for all the forums that allowed for self-promotion and art sharing. These included:
ENWorld Forums, a very lively place where tabletop RPGs are discussed
TIGForums, a board for indie gaming discussions
D&D Beyond Forums, a popular website for Dungeons & Dragons
Well, the last sign-up is actually not going very smoothly. I had to request advertising approval to a moderator — which is actually very fair — but they ended up denying my request on the basis that “they found AI stuff in my links”. Which, on top of being allowed on the forums (didn’t find a single guideline against it) it’s simply not true. All my work is 100% hand-crafted from the ground-up.
I offered proof, but they stopped replying. I contacted another mod, who probably didn’t even read my complete message, and told me that if the first one had denied my request, that was final. They threatened me with warnings if I was to contact another mod — which I’ll do. I’ll be able to use the forums’ appeals system upon receiving a warning. This is just unfair, I’ve been drawing ever since I was able to hold a pencil, and I never sold — or tried to sell - any image made or based on AI generators.
As for my art commissions service, I picked up a new request this week. I’m working on the preliminary sketch right now, so I won’t be able to show anything for a while. It’ll feature a classic Succubi in a mildly NSFW attire, so I’ll also be creating a more SFW version for later sharing.
I also finished a big artwork for a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. It was commissioned to me by the Dungeon Master together with a player that previously commissioned me this year.
The illustration will feature a giant portal, the campaign’s villain, the campaign’s mentor, as well as the four playing characters looking at the scene — in full color. This one took me several weeks, and I’m very proud of the final result. I will probably write a post entirely about the making-of of this commission.
Lastly, here’s a final sneak peek of another project I’m working on:
Can’t tell you much more on this one, tho. I’ll be able to share this in the following weeks for sure, but it’ll probably take me a while still.
Well, that was it for this week. Hopefully you did enjoy this short rundown of news and updates. If you did, maybe consider give this a share, it would help greatly.
Additionally, you can directly refer friends. The more you sign up for my publication, the more discounts you can accumulate on my art commissions services, up to USD 250.00 off!
Talk with you all soon!
Cheers, Flygohr
